FEMA is offering assistance for COVID-19 related Funeral Expenses

Beginning in April 2021, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be providing financial assistance for funeral expenses related to the COVID-19 pandemic up to $9,000. Those who are eligible will be able to receive their assistance as a check by mail or direct deposit. Funds are limited, so applications should be submitted as soon as possible to increase eligibility. As of April 12th, 2021 the FEMA hotline is open and application appointments are taking place.

Applicants must be able to supply a variety of official documents in order to receive aid, including but not limited to a death certificate and funeral expense documents such as receipts and contracts, as well as proof of funds received from other sources that were specifically used for funeral costs. Individuals who wish to receive assistance must be U.S. citizens, non-citizen nationals, or qualified aliens. The death must have occurred in the United States after January 20, 2020 and must have been attributed to the COVID-19 virus as stated by the death certificate.

COVID-19 Information for Funeral Service

COVID-19 is affecting all of our lives. It is affecting the way our society functions and communicates. It is affecting the way that we grieve and mourn the loss of our loved ones.

Trout Funeral Homes & Resthaven-Sunset Memorial Parks recognize how challenging these times are for families who are dealing with a loss. For over 80 years, our mission continues to be serving families who are grieving and doing everything we can for them during some of life’s most challenging times.

To help families, we have initiated action plans designed for your protection while still providing an opportunity to grieve and celebrate loved ones’ lives.

We have an obligation to protect the public, the elderly, the most vulnerable members of our community, and our staff in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Currently our policies limiting funeral attendance are in place as we are adhering to CDC and government recommendations.  We have confirmed cases of Covid-19 virus in our community and we are doing our part to limit the spread.

Masks are recommended when attending visitation and funeral ceremonies.

In order to best accommodate those who wish to attend funeral ceremonies, we are investing all available resources toward updating our services to include live streaming.

Live Streaming is available for those families who chose to utilize this option.

Live streaming will be conducted through YouTube.com and/or Facebook Live on Facebook.com.

Direct links to individual funeral service live streams can be found in individual obituaries on our Trout Funeral Home website.

We realize that not all families may choose to make funeral ceremonies publicly available. When a family prefers a more private experience, we will have the ability to limit access to private live streams with password protection on YouTube.com.

In accordance with CDC and federal recommendations, and to limit spread of the COVID-19 virus, general and

public access to our funeral home and cemetery facilities are currently limited by appointment only.

Great care is being taken to provide a safe environment at our facilities for our elderly and most vulnerable members of our community

who may be experiencing the loss of a loved one. In addition to scheduled appointments at our facilities, we also have the ability to make funeral arrangements via phone and/or video conferencing and can include family members in the meeting who may be out of town, out of state, or otherwise isolated.

From all of us at Trout Funeral Home and Resthaven-Sunset Memorial Parks, we are here for you. We are here to serve you and your family, and our great community. We will be updating our Facebook, Instagram, and our website with current information as it changes, as well as other resources to help our community though this difficult time.

As always, we are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and are fully staffed to serve your families’ needs and the needs of this great community.
